Our trips begin and end in Loreto, Baja California. Trips are from Sunday to Sunday, 8 days/7nights. Additional weeks are offered at a 10% discount (you may want to make a couple calls home and extend your stay if a new swell arrives on your last day!)

Day 1: ARRIVAL DAY LORETO — THE POINT.
You will be greeted by your guide at the airport in Loreto at about 3 p.m. A short taxi ride will take you to the actual town of Loreto where we will enjoy a delicious Mexican lunch.

After lunch we begin the 4 - 5 hour drive from Loreto to the point, crossing from the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific coast, through southern Baja’s harsh and beautiful desert. We usually arrive with enough daylight to get situated at the camp, move into our tents, and wash off the dust with a sunset surf session.

Day 2 – 6: THE POINT: SURFING SURFING SURFING.
This is a typical day: wake up with the sunrise, refreshed from a full night’s sleep, and poke your head outside your tent to check the waves. Warm up with a bit of optional morning yoga, led by one of our guides.
Take your time and have a nice breakfast of banana pancakes or granola with yogurt, as you wait for the offshore winds to pick up. Then go surfing!

Beginners will have a 1.5 hour surf lesson beginning with a beach talk about surf safety, surf etiquette, the formation of waves, types of waves, tides, and everything surfing.

Experienced surfers have about 4 right points to choose from, offering everything from rolling longboard swells, to fast reeling walls, to punchy rippable bowls.

All the points have one characteristic in common: long long looooooong waves! After you catch a wave, you come in to the beach and walk back to the take-off spot.

After surfing yourself silly, come in for a rest. Play cards, read a book, philosophize, goof off, take a nap, write in your journal…or we may walk into town and get a paleta (local fruit popsicle).

When hunger calls eat some lunch, perhaps some of Pia’s tasty fish tacos or a refreshing salad. After food digests and energy is restored head out for an afternoon session in the groomed offshore waves. Beginner surfers do their second surf lesson, perhaps practicing turning the board, or turtling, or ‘reading’ waves.

Come in when you have surfed yourself silly.

As the sun begins to set and the air cools down, you’ll enjoy taking a hot shower to get the saltwater off. Stroll back to camp along the beach. Sit by yourself or with a new friend and soak up the desert and sea beauty around you.

Under the kitchen canopy Pia’s delicious hot gourmet camp meal (perhaps a chicken curry or vegetable stir-fry) awaits you. Finish the night sitting around the campfire sipping a cold beer and swapping surfing stories while staring at the blanket of stars above. Retire to your tent, exhausted from surfing the longest waves of your life! Get lulled to sleep on your big puffy air mattress by the sound of waves outside your tent and dream of the waves you will get tomorrow.

Day 7: The Point -- Loreto.
Saturday morning we will pack our bags and drive east, arriving in Loreto in the early afternoon. Loreto is the site of one of Baja’s first missions, established in 1697.

After checking in, you will have the rest of the afternoon and night free to explore this charming coastal town and the shops and restaurants which surround our centrally located hotel. The summer days in Loreto are hot…fortunately the beach is only a block away. Take a dip in the Sea of Cortez to refresh yourself.

Time to play, party and reminisce with all our new friends before going our separate ways.

Day 8: Departure Day: Loreto -- Home.
You will have the morning free to enjoy Loreto. At about 12:30 p.m. one of our guides will accompany you via taxi to the Loreto airport and bid you buen viaje. Note: Guests can stay in Loreto for additional days if so desired.
